Rolling Like a Ball is a playful exercise that develops balance, core control, coordination, and body awareness. In the traditional version, you'll hold your ankles, draw your forehead toward your knees, and gently rock back and forth while finding balance at the top of each repetition.
During pregnancy, we'll modify the exercise by holding behind the thighs instead of the ankles. This creates more space for your growing belly, reduces abdominal pressure, and allows you to move more comfortably while maintaining the purpose of the exercise. As your pregnancy progresses, you may also choose to widen your legs to create additional room and support.
Rather than focusing on perfect balance or achieving the deepest position, allow the movement to be fluid and natural. Use gentle momentum, move with control, and remember that placing your feet down between repetitions is always an option. Every repetition is an opportunity to reconnect with your body—not to perform perfectly.
As always, let your body be your guide. Some days this movement may feel wonderful, while on others you may decide it's time to modify further or skip it altogether. Both choices honor your pregnancy. The movement may change, but the purpose stays the same.
