In the traditional Single Straight Leg Stretch, the shoulders lift from the mat as one leg reaches toward the ceiling and is gently pulsed twice before switching sides. During pregnancy, we'll modify this exercise by sitting up into the mid-back rather than lying completely flat, creating a more comfortable and supportive position.
Because you're more upright, your leg may not straighten as much as it would in the classical version—and that's perfectly okay. Your legs are still working against gravity, your core remains engaged, and you'll continue building strength, coordination, and control without unnecessary strain.
Take your time between repetitions. If your body needs a moment to pause, breathe, and reset, allow yourself that space. Rest is part of the practice, not a break from it.
Remember, every body and every pregnancy is different. Listen to what your body is telling you, move with intention, and trust that thoughtful modifications can provide the same purpose and challenge while supporting both you and your baby.
